RUHPOLDING, Germany — The ongoing snow drought in much of central Europe has forced a realignment of World Cup events in the nordic combined German Grand Prix, the three-event series within a series.
The series was to begin Saturday in Oberhof, moved to Ruhpolding on Jan. 3 and finish Jan. 6, as usual, in Schonach. However, because of poor snow conditions elsewhere, Ruhpolding will hold the first two events — Saturday and then Wednesday — and the Grand Prix will conclude Jan. 6 in Oberstdorf, host of the 2005 nordic World Championships.
Three U.S. skiers are in Germany — former sprint world champion Johnny Spillane, Bill Demong and, promoted from World Cup-B after a strong series of results in the United States earlier this month, Brett Camerota.
