MILAN, Italy — World Cup cross-country and snowboarding races have been changed due to lack of snow.
Cross-country races in Cogne on Dec. 10 were changed from the planned pursuit events to mass starts, the Italian Winter Sports Federation said Wednesday.
Snowboarding races in San Vigilio di Marebbe originally scheduled for Thursday have been postponed by three days to Sunday.
Snowfall has been scarce across the Alps and three stops on the Alpine calendar have also been canceled. The season opener in Sölden, Austria, was wiped out in October and men's and women's stops in Val d'Isere, France, and St. Moritz, Switzerland, on Dec. 9-10 have also been canceled.
Italian organizers are also facing shortfalls in Val Gardena and Alta Badia, where the men's alpine ski circuit is scheduled to race in mid-December.
