Canceled Maribor women's GS moves to Ofterschwang Feb. 3
The FIS said Wednesday the giant slalom canceled in Maribor, Slovenia, last week will be run in Ofterschwang on Feb. 3. The German village will then host a giant slalom and slalom the following two days.
The German ski federation will pick up most of the cost for the giant slalom. Germany beat out several other countries who competed to get the race just before the Olympics in Torino, Italy.
''This is a case of prestige,'' federation president Alfons Hoermann said.
The Maribor race was called off because soft snow and high temperatures were ruled too dangerous for the skiers.
