In front of several hundred fans, the 34-year-old cleared 215.5 meters for an unofficial jump record at Klum.

''I was the first man to cross the 200-meter mark and now I closed my jumping career with this great leap,'' Goldberger told The Associated Press. ''I am thankful for what the sport and the fans have given me and I am looking forward to the new challenges in the future.''

The official record on the Klum slope, venue for this weekend's Ski Flying World Championships, is 214 meters by Germany's Sven Hannawald.

Goldberger won 22 World Cup events, three World Cup titles, six World Championships medals and two Olympic medals.
