Vittoz had tested positive for the diuretic furosemide after a World Cup race in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, which Vittoz won on January 15.

Vittoz, 29, has won two other World Cup races this season: The 15km free race in Kuusamo on November 27 and the 30km free on December 18 in Ramsau, Austria.

"The B sample was negative. We're happy and it's the end of the story," a spokesman for the FFS told Reuters.

Vittoz, second in the overall World Cup standings (behind German Axel Teichmann), has been given the green light to participate in the cross-country world championships in Obertsdorf, Germany (February 16-27).
