"Vincent, shocked by this announcement, wishes to await the counter-expertise of the b-sample before making a statement," added the spokesperson.

"Vincent wishes to be as open as possible about this affair and informs you that he has himself demanded a b-sample," said the spokeswoman's statement.

Furosemide is considered a potent diuretic and banned as a masking agent.

Vittoz finished tenth in the 15km two days later in the Czech resort.
