Eight time National Champion Tommy Ford underwent surgery Tuesday (Jan. 15) on a fractured right femur sustained in a free-skiing crash at LaClusaz, France. US Ski Team Medical Director Kyle Wilkens reports Ford was treated on the scene before being evacuated by helicopter to Annecy where he underwent surgery overnight.

Ford will remain in Annecy until he is stable enough for transport back to the United States.

Ford was named to the 2010 Olympic team and was a member of the 2011 World Championship team. His best World Cup result to date is an 11th in super G at Hinterstoder in 2011.
