The website Fasterskier.com reports today (June 7) of a win by the U.S. Ski Team's star Kikkan Randall in the town of Askim, Norway, at a two part roller skiing event. The first half was a 200 meter sprint event, which was followed by an uphill time trial. Randall defeated fine Norge sprint athletes like Guro Strom Solli and Ella Gjomle, who was third.

The website skitime.it, reports today, that former Norwegian Olympic champion Thomas Alsgaard was offered a consultant's role with the Russian Biathlon Federation, but ultimately turned down the offer. He has held a similar post with the Norwegian Biathlon team. Alsgaard  served as a commentator for NRK-TV during the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

Finally, the FIS Ski Jumping site, writes today of the 2012 World Jr. Nordic skiing championships. They will be held for the first time ever in Turkey. The town of Erzurum will hold this historic event. Next season the FISU (World University Games) will be conducted there, with more than 3,500 athletes taking part. A new ski jumping hill is under construction and several smaller hills have already been opened.
