According to Alpine Ontario Alpin, head men's coach Thomas Erhard is leaving the organization and accepting a position heading up the alpine coaching staff of the newly established USSA National Ski Academy in Park City.

Erhard told AOA staff, “I feel torn in many ways, most importantly to not be working together with you all. But this is a lifetime career move which I could not turn down. The US team approached me with an offer that is both exciting and long term.”

Erhard has been head coach of the Ontario men’s team for two seasons and in that time has been an integral part in building the program to a high standard.

Alpine Ontario Alpin Executive Director James R. Lazor said, “We fully support Thomas’ move …this is a great opportunity for him and also evidences just how solid the OST men’s team has grown under Thomas' leadership. Thomas’ recognition by the USSA is, in turn, recognition of the successes of our team.

“We are all very sad to be losing Thomas, but we congratulate him and wish him very well in this outstanding opportunity.”

USSA officials offered no immediate comment.
