Downhill champ breaks foot in motocross
World Cup downhill champion Klaus Kroell has undergone surgery after breaking bones in his right foot in a motocross accident.
Kroell, with three World Cup wins and six podiums this season, crashed while motorcycling in Mittelberg Kamp on Tuesday. He had surgery Wednesday at the National Hospital of Krems according to the Austrian ski federation.
Team doctor Martin Gruber reported, “The operation went without complications. Klaus is going well under the circumstance and he will probably be released (from hospital) before Easter.”
“It is not optimal,” said Kroell. “And unfortunately our family vacation is in the water. Now there is full concentration on the rehab, so I can ski without problems in the winter championship.”
The recovery timeline is put at six to eight weeks.
