American moguls skier Patrick Deneen defeated World Cup overall champion Mikael Kingsbury of Canada today (March 18) to win his third dual moguls World Cup in a row at the Freestyle World Cup Finals in Megeve, France. Deneen’s U.S. Ski Team teammate Hannah Kearney received the Crystal Globe as both moguls and Freestyle overall champion after finishing fifth today.
Deneen’s win moved him up to second in the final World Cup moguls standings behind Kingsbury.
“It has been a great second half of the season for me,” said Deneen. “I have been skiing really well and really consistently and its paid off by winning my last three dual moguls in a row. It feels good to beat Kingsbury, he and Sergey Volkov are the only two skiers who’ve beat me this season in duals and I beat both those guys to win today.”
American Jeremy Cota finished the season third in the moguls standings after coming in fifth today. Bradley Wilson finished 10th today to end his first World Cup season ranked seventh. Bryan Zemba finished eighth in his first World Cup appearance.
Canadian Justine Dufour-Lapointe was the women’s winner on Sunday beating Japan’s Miki Ito in the final. Justine’s sister Chloe Dufour-Lapointe rounded out the podium in third.
Kearney was the top American in fifth followed by three other American women in the top 10. Heather McPhie finished seventh today (ranked fourth), Eliza Outrim landed eighth (ranked eighth) and KC Oakley took 10th (ranked ninth).
