With his tenth place finish in the slalom today (March 9) Ryan Cochran-Siegle has added a second gold medal to the Cochran collection by taking the combined win at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Roccaraso, Italy.

Cochran-Siegle was the gold medalist in the downhill, and also finished 28th in the GS to secure the win.

The combined at junior championships is determined the old fashioned way, combining FIS points earned from the various races held at the World Junior Championships, minus the super G, which Cochran-Siegle failed to finish.

"Yeah, it feel good," Cochran-Siegle said. "The snow was definitely a little worse when I ran, but it was a nice slalom hill for sure."

He said he had met his goals, for the most part, and now was looking forward not to the World Cup Finals, which his gold medals qualified him for, but heading home, to Stowe, Vermont, where he will take a run at winning the NorAm overall crown. "I'm psyched."

He said having some family around the championships had been nice. "It was nice to have dinner with family almost every night, but with the days off I felt like Mom was pretty bored."

Men's coach Peter Korfiatis said he was pleased with his team's results in the final slalom. "I think slalom is the most difficult event," he said. "Theoretically you've got 123 chances to mess up. This, probably, was the best day we had and I'm happy with the performance."

In addition to Cochran-Siegles top 10 placing the US group saw Robert Cone in sixth and Bryce Bennett was 16th despite starting 46th in the soft conditions. The slalom was won by Finn Santeri Paloniemi.

Finishing on the men's combined podium was Kristoffersen for the silver and Zan Kranjec for bronze. Thomas Dressen earned the fourth spot and Italian Stefano Baruffaldi was fifth.

The women's combined, scored minus the canceled downhill, was won Ragnhild Mowinckel with a point total of 11.66 from her first in GS and fourth in slalom ahead of teammmate Annie Winquist. Swiss Corinne Suter was third, Adeline Baud fourth and Petra Vlhova fifth.
