PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 10) – Olympian Ashley Caldwell, who won her first World Cup aerials event last January in Lake Placid, will sit out the remainder of the 2012 season after having knee surgery today. Caldwell was injured in a crash at the NorAm Cup aerials event at the Utah Olympic Park in December.

According to U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Kyle Wilkens, the surgery by Dr. Vern Cooley went without complications and she is expected to be back on skis training this summer and should be ready for the 2013 World Championship season.

Caldwell was tenth in the 2010 Olympic aerials event and named Rookie of the Year that season on the International Ski Federation's World Cup and was ranked third in the world coming into this season. She was recently named as one of three women in Powder Magazine's Top 20 Best Skiers in the World (18 and under).
